Realization

This project was therapeutic during the COVID-19 shutdowns and social distancing. So many local businesses couldn’t survive or used the pandemic as the opportunity to enact long-considered plans to close. Everyone I knew had “that place” they were going to miss, so narrowing it to three was difficult. I explored representative type treatments for each of the selected businesses (Vulcan Video, Threadgill’s, and Magnolia Café, and incorporated original as well as other photos. I solicited quotes from friends and acquaintances as well as material from online reporting.
